EPR

Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) is an environmental policy that shifts the cost and responsibility for managing products and packaging at end‑of‑life from taxpayers and municipalities to the companies that produce them. The core idea: producers influence design and materials, so they should also fund recycling, reuse, and waste reduction. If a state has an EPR (Extended Producer Responsibility) law, any producer that sells covered products into that state must comply with that state’s requirements — even if the company is headquartered elsewhere.
